How AI Helps You Write Sales Copy Without Sounding Like a Robot

How AI Helps You Write Sales Copy Without Sounding Like a Robot

The concern when people hear “use AI to write your marketing” is understandable: the output will be generic, corporate, and immediately recognizable as machine-generated. Nobody will trust it.

That concern is based on using AI the wrong way.

Used correctly, AI doesn’t write your marketing for you. It helps you extract, organize, and sharpen what you’d say anyway, and then drafts from that material. The result sounds like you because it’s built from your words, your examples, and your framing. AI is the structure. You’re still the voice.

Here’s the method that actually produces usable marketing copy.

Step 1: Give AI your raw material before you ask for a draft

The mistake most people make is asking AI to write something cold. “Write a landing page for my course on X.” The output is generic because the input is generic.

Before you ask for a draft, hand AI the raw material:
– The specific outcome your offer produces, in concrete terms
– The specific person it’s for, described in detail
– What they’re stuck on before going through your training
– What they can do after that they couldn’t before
– Your strongest real example of this transformation

That input is what makes the output specific. AI can only work with what you give it. Give it specific material and it produces specific copy. Give it a topic and it produces a template.

Step 2: Draft one section at a time, not the whole page

A full landing page is too large a task to hand off in one prompt. The output will be consistent in format and inconsistent in quality.

Draft one section at a time. Start with the headline. Ask AI to generate 10 options. Pick the one that’s closest, or combine the best elements of two or three. Then move to the opening paragraph, the outcome description, the CTA.

Each section gets its own pass. Each builds on the one before. By the end, you have a complete page assembled from the best version of each piece, not a single mediocre draft of the whole thing.

Step 3: Edit for voice, not just errors

When AI drafts from your raw material, it will get the substance right and occasionally get the tone wrong. It may be slightly more formal than you are, or slightly more polished. That’s the editing pass.

Read each section out loud. Wherever it doesn’t sound like you, rewrite it until it does. Trust your ear. If a sentence makes you wince, it’ll make a buyer wince too. The standard is simple: would you say this in a conversation?

The words that survive that test are the ones that work.

Where this applies to training content specifically

Everything described here is most directly useful when writing the course-facing marketing: the description of what your training delivers, the outcome your curriculum creates, the results your students achieve. That’s the material you’re building and the claims you need to be able to make clearly.

Use these methods to draft the landing page for your course, the email that introduces your offer, the description of what a student walks away with. AI organizes and drafts; you verify that every claim is accurate and every word sounds like you. Accuracy is your department and always will be.

The 3-input test before you start

Before handing anything to AI, run this check: Can you describe the transformation in 1 sentence? Can you name 1 specific person the offer is for? Can you give 1 real example of the result? If all 3 answers are yes, the AI output will be usable. If any of the 3 is vague, fix that first. AI amplifies clarity. It doesn’t create it.

The Bottom Line

AI doesn’t write your marketing. It helps you build marketing from your own raw material, section by section, then edited until it sounds like you. Give it specific inputs, draft one section at a time, and rewrite anything that doesn’t pass the out-loud test. The result is copy that’s faster to produce and still sounds human because it’s anchored to your actual voice and your real offer.
